The Swedish Pakistani Institute of Technology, Gujrat was established in 1964.

Instrumentation Technology was started in 1965.

First batch of student graduated in Instrumentation Technology in 1968.

In 1966, Electrical, Mechanical, Auto & Diesel, Metallurgy & Welding Technologies were setup.

In 1967, Foundry and Pattern Making Technology was started. The institute was, in full swing with all the proposed technologies at that time.

In 1970, the institute was transferred to the Education Department.
|
|
In the same year it was recognized by the West Pakistan Board of Technical Education.

In 1982, Electronics Technology was started.
|
|
In 2000, Automation Technology was introduced.
|
|
One-year Post Diploma in Bio-Medical Technology was started in 1988.
|
|
In 1999, this institute was handed over to TEVTA from Education Department.
|
|
Government of the Punjab has declared TEVTA as “Special Institute”.
